Alejandro Velasquez Cadavid is a litigation attorney and advisor with extensive experience in commercial and civil litigation, specialized in contractual and non-contractual liability, contract and insurance law.
He has acted on behalf of important Colombian companies in complex litigation proceedings in the areas of construction, transportation, banking & finance, energy, infrastructure and insurance, both in civil and administrative courts and in arbitral tribunals.
He graduated from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Law, 2008, first in his promotion), and he is a specialist in civil liability and insurance from the same university (2010).
He studied private law in France and obtained the title Diplôme Supérieur d’Université (DSU) en Droit civil, mention "très bien" (honourable mention), from Université Panthéon Assas-Paris 2 (Paris, France, 2017).
Arbitrator (list B) in commercial, insurance and reinsurance matters, in the Arbitration Center of The Chamber of Commerce of Medellin. Secretary of arbitrations in the same arbitration center.
Before starting his independent practice in 2020, he worked as a litigation attorney at Dr. Javier Tamayo Jaramillo’s law firm (from 2008 to 2011) and at Dr. Fernando Moreno Quijano law firm (from 2011 to 2019).
Lecturer in Civil Liability and in Law of Obligations in the undergraduate law program and in the graduate law programs (specialization and Masters in civil liability) of EAFIT University. Lecturer in the specialization in Civil Liability of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín.
